Cold abrasive waterjet for precision metal components — complex profiles and internal features without thermal distortion.
When a part has to hold its geometry after cutting, heat is the variable to remove. A thermal process leaves a heat-affected zone at the cut edge and puts heat into the part itself; on a thin section, or on a part with narrow webs, that heat shows up as distortion, and the geometry that was correct on the drawing is no longer correct on the table.
Abrasive waterjet cuts cold. There is no heat-affected zone and no thermal distortion, so the part is measured against the drawing rather than against a straightening operation. That is why precision metal work is often routed to waterjet before any other process is considered.
| Material | Indicative maximum thickness |
|---|---|
| Stainless steel | Up to 150 mm |
| Carbon steel | Up to 200 mm |
| Titanium | Up to 50 mm |
| Aluminium | Quoted per application — no catalog figure |
| Brass | Quoted per application — no catalog figure |
Indicative capacity on Yuanli 5-axis platforms at standard operating pressure. Actual thickness depends on cutting speed, tolerance, and pump pressure selected.
Aluminium and brass are cut on the same platforms. For both, the maximum section is confirmed against your drawing rather than quoted from a table.
Angled edges and complex contours on the same platform as the profile, so more of the geometry is finished in one setup.
Straight 2D profiles and internal features on flat plate where the cut stays vertical.
Cutting plus milling, drilling and edge processing on one platform, for parts that need more than a cut outline.
No heat-affected zone. No thermal distortion. More of the geometry completed on one machine. The three points are connected: because the cut is cold the part does not move after cutting, because the cut is programmed the internal features and the outer profile come off the same datum, and because the 5-axis head can angle, an edge that would have been a second operation is cut in the first setup.
On the AC 5-axis platform the catalog figures are ±0.1 mm cutting accuracy, ±0.01 mm repeatability and ±0.025 mm positioning. Those are platform figures for the AC 5-axis machine; the result on a given part also depends on the material, the section and the cutting parameters selected, which is why a drawing is reviewed before a tolerance is confirmed for a job.
Send us the drawing, the material and the tolerance that matters. We will confirm the machine and the cutting parameters for your part.
